Campohermoso is one of the main working towns of the East coast of Almeria. An access point to the Cabo de Gata Natural Park it is a town that many people just pass by and so miss the real colour of the town.
At first, coming from the motorway, you may think that the town looks like a shanty town with an impressive mixture of cultures living in old houses who obviously work on the land and agriculture. You would be right in thinking this if you were to judge the town by its outskirts.
Within the centre is a very quaint and pretty town with a high quality of services.
The schools are of a very high quality and their sports facilities, including football pitch and municipal swimming pool are of a good standard.
The truth is that the town needs a desperate facelift and there are talks within the Town Hall of reforms and new builds to replace the unsightly outskirts of the town.
This has not really affected the interest in the town for many visitors due to its location. Not far from the coast, some 8 kilometres or so to Las Negras and a few minutes from Almeria.
The town offers a variety of events and festivities to the surrounding villages throughout the year and most of the main services and amenities are found at Campohermoso.
