During the uprising of the Moors, according to books regarding population, it is verified that they burned the temples of Tahal and Alcudia; o­nce the new population was consolidated, they restored or they built new temples from a project drawn up by the bishop of Guadix.

To this church they added a strong tower that had the utility of a bell tower and refuge when the alarm was given due to the presence of Berber ships on the coast.

It is dedicated to the Holy Christ of the Consolation, in the middle of the 19th century it was in ruins, subsequent arrangements and enlargements were carried out, emphasising those of the bishop José María Orber.
