Goñar serves as the bordering district between Andalucia and the Region of Murcia and so is split between the municipality of Huercal Overa, Almeria and Puerto Lumbreras, Murcia. Very close to the village is a ridge called El Cabezo la Jara, known by its flora and fuana. o­n the other side a ravine is found called El Barranco el Judio, in which there is a natural spring of water. Also in the proximity of Góñar remainders of mines can be found.
