Hi.I have a house near Huercal Overa.Where are the best garden centres to go to,in an area from Huercal to Mojacar? I know about the one at the roundabout at the Mojacar/Garrucha roundabout.I need to buy plants, palms and pots! I need to start a garden off from scratch,.as I have a large plot of builders rubble!!! Also, where is the best place to buy artificial grass from,as I need to put a strip down.Thanks.

There's one outside Vera, on the way to the Antas roundabout, that is really good for plants and pots. The little one in San Juan de los Terreros is good for plants too.

For plants, garden advice, even landscaping see Phil of Ground Cover, garden centre at the back of Iron Art on the El Real Industrial Estate at Antas, also garden furniture and artificial grass.

Or you could try the big one on the way to Albox, next to the bar International, just passed into Britiish hands and has undergone a major facelift too!

for plants like geraniums and similar, try the local markets. We have a particularly good stall in Garrucha on a Friday and a stall that sells geraniums and other plants extremely cheaply.

The generic type name is ice plants I think - very useful in a tinder dry areas. If you look at pictures from last years fires you can see that they don't burn and actually protect the buildings they are planted round.

The centre I mean is the one between Vera and Antas, not the one outside Garrucha, which I think is Hortiflor? The one on the way to Antas is much bigger and has the best selection of trees and landscaping materials.

Just remembered the name - Mesembryanthemum - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesembryanthemum

Another very good garden centre which hasnt been mentioned as yet is out on the Huercal-Overa - Pulpi road. Just past El Saltador but before the San Francisco roundabout, its on your left-hand side.

Very reasonable prices.
