Hi. We recently purchased a property in the Arboleas area (new build). The builder arranged for the electricity connection but did not get round to the water and he has gone off the radar!!

Is it possible to get the water connection sorted even though we are out of the country, we would like to have it working when we get there, or is it a hands on task.

If so how is it done?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

VMT

Hi,It is almost impossible to get Water and Electric connected if you are not very much "hands on".We have been trying now for about 18 months ,and everyone says " no problemo",but no one ever does it!!! They do bits here and there, but never finish it! We came out in October for 2 weeks, and had no Electric, but we did bring the solar garden shed lights, cost about £20 each, and they were good at night, along with torches and candles. The Water we got from the local Fuente, for the toilets and washing, and drank bottled Water.

I hope you have more luck than we have had. I would like to come out on my own but dont want to have to lug heavy containers full of Water each day.
Good Luck,Di.

Can't you pay someone who works as a translator to go and do it for you, thats what I did, because the people we bought off had the services cut off because we said they had to move out, strange they thought they could stay as we were in Uk, must be a Spanish thing icon_lol.gif

Hi,We tried the local Abogado route. After about 1 year we gave up and asked the Local Plumber and Electrician to do it. Still waiting! Our Abogado got us a new pole and Electric supply to near the house, Our local Electrician got inside the house, but we are still waiting for a meter to be done.Abogados dont always help!!!! Good luck,Di.

Hi
As a general rule, lawyers deal with law. Known here as abogados.
What you want is a GESTOR for which there is no exact translation but it generally means "someone who runs around sorting things out for other people" in terms of taxes, paperwork in general, permits... some deal with utilities, too.
Cheers

Look up "Gestoría" in the yellow pages (páginas amarillas) and choose the one nearest to you or one that speaks English if you have trouble with Spanish. There are plenty around.

Pepino, In your reply you also forgot to add Certificate of Habitation - properties in Albox who have had water for several years now - are being cut off in March if they have not got this C of Hab.

I am slightly concerned by The Sheriffs post about water being cut off if you don't have a C of H...
Is this true?

Sharon, Yes it is - and they have also started dis-connecting the Electric supplies of those who have been running on Builders Supply since their houses were built.

No Cert of Hab no legal connection for Water or Electric.
