Barclays had a deal offering free banking, with free debit and credit cards and 3% back on utility bills paid by direct debit but.... you needed to either have one of their investment products or have your monthly salary (maybe pension?) paid in. I'm not sure if this is still open to new customers, but it may be worthing going in to see them - they speak excellent English too.

We're with Barclays and they don't have any charges with the account we have - it was a special offer at the time - and they seem to be honouring it (up to now!!) - so maybe you should pop in and see them???
We're also with Cajamar - and they are charging - will eventually leave them - but we've a savings product with them that does not mature until 2015!!!! I wonder if they'll still be around then!!!!??? I've heard of Caja's being taken over and people loosing any money invested with them!!!! Worrying!!!!
The number of complaints being registered against Cajamar seems to be growing out of all proportion to other banks at the moment. Contact their 'Defensor' if you have a sp[ecific issue with them that you can't resolve at branch level. _________________ http://www.tumbit.com/

Just heard from Banco CAM - which will integrate with Banco de Sabadell - that the maintenance charge will increase from euros 8.75 to 12.50 per quarter.
The annual charge for the CAM card goes down - from 16 to 15 , whether used or not!

Barclays have brought out a new credit card that is free - and it gives you 3% back when you spend 150euros or over on one transaction.
They also do that on any bills that you pay through them - plus no charges again. Sounds like the best deal going at the moment - and they are very friendly in the Mojacar branch.
