Seconded. Two children found drowned in a car in Puerto Lumbreras. I believe that this is the worst in living memory. An expat lady dead in Mojacar. Vera town (not playa) has flooded and that has been there for centuries.
I hope everyone here has minimal damage and swiftly acting insurance companies.

I don't think there has been much flooding in Vera town. The newspaper pictures I've seen showing pictures 'from Vera town', as they say, are actually from Puerto Rey.

ASAP have emailed all this morning to advise we get our properties checked as there MAYBE some water inside! Vera Council have assessors who will be down to check over along with repair men if necessary. I'm coming over on Friday but dont know how long for. _________________ Kaz

["The following is a Zurgena Town Hall report as of an hour ago, it might be of interest and help to some. Hi all. I hope no one had suffered to much damage and all are OK. First the bad news and then more bad news. At La Alfoquia we are totally cut off because: The E15 at Junction 547 ( towards La Alfoquia & Huercal Overa , Baza etc) is closed due to massive land slide : Road from Zurgena to Palaces is closed due to a bridge being washed, The road out of Zurgena South towards Lubrin is closed. The bridge at Cucador is closed ( I believe due to danger of collapse). If anyone is desperate to get to Almeria, Alicante or Murcia airports the please take note. The only way onto the motorways is as follows.Go to Albox, up to suicide corner, turn right and then left, take the road out towards Taberno, then to Santa Peta, then to Huercal Overa. This brings you to Just up from Lidl's. It's a long way round but it can be done, I did it yesterday. For those going to Murcia or Alicante: Take note the motorway bridge this side of Lorca has been washed away. Yesterday the police were providing an escort to a sort of diversion that takes about 25KM and 45 minutes to drive, you can then re-join the E15 by Lorca town centre. From there to Murcia airport ( via the RM2 MU 602 etc was passable. On towards Alicante I don't know. For those trying alternative route please be advised: On the AP7 the b ridge between Aguilas and Pulpi has been washed away. The bridge on the AP7 at Cuevas has been washed away. The coast road at Puerto Rey has been washed away, The bridge between Vera & Garrucha has been washed away. There is major damage at the Bourganvilla roundabout and Pueblo Laguna. Honestly the devastation is indescribable and it will take months( if not years in some cases )to sort matters out. I am sure there will be many more updates from all quarters, and I have only just covered a few of the problems that I know of in the hope saving anyone frustration and pointless journey]

Hi, does anyone have any info on conditions of road to Vera Playa from Aquilas. We will be using the AP7 from Murcia Airport but note from previous posts that its closed at Aquilas and wondered if coast road is open. Many thanks to everyone who has posted helpfull info.

How horrible all this is. I can't believe the loss of lives and property in this disaster. I am unable to come over and check but does anybody know how the farmland on Las Alparatas and La Capilla has fared, and the road to Turre from the Los Gallardos - Garrucha road?

we arrived back at 2am today, should have been back friday as the weather changed, we were on the toll road just before the bridge collapsed we then tried the E15 but was eventually turned off at Huercal Overa due to another bridge being washed away, eventually made our way bac k to Mojacar, no water for 3 days but I believe it is back on this morning. The toll road is accessable at Aguilas and come through cuevas almanzora to Vera get on the E15 to los Gallardos to access Mojacar and Garrucha, pretty scary at the time but compared to what has happened to others in the aftermath just an inconvenience. Spectrum radio did a great job of keeping people informed and uptodate with everything. Prayers and thoughts to those who have lost everything including life. x

There are no problems coming from Almeria airport.
The E15 to / from Murcia is open right through, where the bridge collapsed on the south bound carriage way a conta flow is in place on the northbound side.
However, you'll have to get off at the Los Gallardos exit and drive to Victors via Mojacar and Garrucha, as the road from Vera is closed. I was there yesterday and parking space is at a premium. _________________ Graeme
