About to complete purchase on a holiday home in Cortijo Grande and I've just been on the on-line registering page and it asks for :
a. CUPS supply point address (apparently a 22 character number)
b. An electrical installation certificate
Please can someone tell me where can I get these two things from ?

The CUPS should be on the previous owners bill - ask them for a copy of the last bill. Also ask them if they have a "boletin" (= electrical supply certificate). If they don't have a boletin then if you have not bought the property yet then demand one as a condition of the deal. Depending on the state of the electrics in the house and the supply to the house a boletin could cost you thousands.

When we bought our house 6 years ago it was a nightmare getting the electricity transferred into our names. Endesa would not switch the supply over without a bolien as the house was over 20 years old. However, when we called in a qualified electrician (has to be authorised to sign off boletins) we were told that the supply to the house was illegal (wooden posts rather than steel or concrete ones and the supply line to the next property went over our roof via supports connected to the house). Also the meter would have to be moved from the front wall of the house to the outer boundary of our property (over 100m) Accordingly, we would have to pay to have the supply line updated before a boletin could be issued the cost could have been anything from €3,000 to €8,000. However, in the end the electrician phoned his "mate" in Endesa and got him to "OK" the transfer without the need for a boletin - that still cost us €300 (albeit paid for by the fact that we had free electricity for 3 months!).

Good luck
