Since purchasing on AA Resort in December 2007, we have noticed a lot of changes. We now have brand new roads to the bottom of the Playa, new roads heading towards Vera,, El Gnomo has given us a bar within walking distance, a newspaper shop outsidfe the Mercadona and a new tapas bar being built. Things seem to be on the up. Looking forward to seeing what's new in October.

On the opposite side of the road to the Mercadona, next to the bus stop for Mojacar. We spoke to the owners in June and they were hoping to be open in 5 weeks, but that seems to have gone by the by. It isn't very big, but I suppose demand isn't that great at the moment. I've got some pictures on my website if you want me to pm you the address.

The new tapas bar has opened. They are doing free food and drink from 8pm - 10pm tonight.

Yes......the new bar "Keoke Tabloa" opened last night.

Hosts Luis & Dory and their family make you very welcome.

We went to the opening night last night which was very well attended and the flamanco group were excellent!!

We went back tonight and had a meal with them and were astounded to discover we were the only non spanish people there!! (Perhaps because there was no free drinks or food!!!).

Here's a few pics.

You don't need to be a tapas fan to enjoy the food. They have quite a varied menu....Burgers and baguettes...various combined plates and the spanish 'raciones'. We opted for some half raciones (a good way to try everything)) and a salad (which was massive!!). A bottle of house red is 7. Not sure about Mahou.....I'll fiind out in the week for you.

Hi all
Although I "ought not to", I shall be leaving these photos here for a couple of weeks to give people a chance to see them.

Thanks Ahana....I knew I was risking it when I posted them. icon_wink.gif

Incidently...why have we labelled the new bar a tapas bar when actually it is a 'tablao' (flamenco bar)??? I think calling it a tapas bar suggests that they specialise in and maybe sell only tapas, when in fact tapas are only a small section of food on offer there.

The name 'Keoke Tablao' is what is on the sign (although not clear in the picture).

To be fair, my Spanish is still pretty poor and their English wasn't much better. We mumbled and fumbled about for around 10 minutes and tapas was probably about the only thing I understood. But at the end of the day, it is a new establishment that will be much appreciated (hopefully) by locals and especially us "part timers" icon_biggrin.gif
