Forum Rules - PLEASE READ

Please Note that these forums are for discussion, not advertising. If you'd like to advertise or recommend companies, free listings and member reviews can be created in the Viva Directory. Adverts and recommendations will be removed from the forum without notice.

However, it's perfectly acceptable to send a PM to anyone that asks for a recommendation.

Forum Rules
This is a message from Ahana, the Forums Moderator.

Thank you for taking time to read our Forum Rules. These are designed to make the forums a nice place to chat and get in touch with others so please abide by them for the sake of the user community.

1) Be Nice / Polite
This is a family forum, so please keep it clean and inoffensive.
Respect other peoples’ right to hold different opinions and avoid bad language.

2) Be Helpful
If you look through the forums and help others, you'll get a nice warm feeling inside. What goes around comes around, so you'll be more likely to get help from others when you need it.

3) Use proper language
Please avoid the use of 'text message' style abbreviations and other forms of web based 'slang'. Viva-Almeria enjoys a wide demographic range of users of all ages and we want to encourage everyone to join in. By keeping your posts clear and simple, you help us achieve this.

4) No Advertising or Public Recommendations.
Advertising your property, goods or services clogs up the forum. This is a message board for getting in touch with and helping others. Please do not post adverts. Any we spot will be deleted. If you spot any, please let us know (send me a private message by clicking the 'PM' icon below, treated in confidence) and we'll delete it.

Recommendations for companies is also considered advertising. This is not allowed in public posts but feel free to recommend whoever and whatever you like in a private message to anyone asking for recommendations. Also, please respect that we run a directory service with free and paid listings to fulfil this need.

There is a specific Classified Ads section for anyone wanting to buy or sell second hand things, and you can also mention any car or vehicle you want to sell in the Cars section which is for one-off sales only. Any dealer-type sale activity is not allowed and any such posts will be removed.

5) No negative / critical feedback on people / companies.
This is a sticky area as it's often open to abuse (competitors can give each other negative comments) and one which we'd like to stay clear of. We are not in a position to validate any negative feedback and thus don't want to get into policing this sort of situation.

6) Do NOT quote the post you are answering.
This is unnecessary and merely blocks up the database. Of course, if you are referring to a specific sentence from a much earlier post, you can copy and past that sentence as a quote at the top of your own reply.

7) Do NOT post on the forum that you have sent someone a PM.
They already know that because it shows up in their Inbox. It is nobody else’s business.

icon_cool.gif Stick to the point.
Usually posts are made to comment on something local to the area or to ask a question.
Make sure your answers do not stray off topic – in particular, make sure that you do not participate in insult and abuse slinging on the forums just because people disagree with one another. Insults should be restricted to PMs (if you really must!) and any such posts on the forums will be deleted automatically and systematically.

9) Keep it short.
Of course, say as much as you want to. By keeping it short I mean don’t fill up the page with over-size fonts, strings of exclamation marks and unnecessary gaps, quotes, emoticons and ramblings.

10) No photos.
Please be aware that not everyone here in Spain has broadband and that some people have trouble with the speed at which websites download onto their computers. To avoid slow downloads and cluttered databases, please do NOT post photos. I do sometimes – if it is really necessary and to the point – allow the odd photo to be posted but only for a very limited period of time after which it is deleted.

We reserve the right to amend these rules at any time should we feel it necessary.
