When we bought our property in 2007 our IBI was deducted automatically from our bank account as this had been set up by our solicitor when we bought. Last year's (2009) was not deducted and we didn't even receive a bill. I am concerned that, although I have today checked our bank account and the DD is still in place it may not be collected for 2010. (I also appreciate we will incur a fine for the 2009 bill).

On other forums (relating to Andalucia) people have commented that they have been able to request their bills on line via the Town Hal and pay directly via their Spanish bank account. Does anyone pay via this method to Mojacar Town Hall? I have been on their website but can't find anything that will enable me to retreive IBI bills online in order for me to pay it last year's bill and this year's.

I have rang our bank and they have confirmed that the Order is still in place for the payment (which I can see for myself) but they don't know themselves why it isn't being collected icon_question.gif

Hi

You could pop into the townhall and ask, here we pay ours at the oficina de recaudación, and if you go in there they give you any bill you owe even if you don't ask for it, so if I want to pay my car tax for example and something else isn't paid they present me with it.

We haven't recieved our IBI bill yet, it normally comes the first week in September here.

Thanks for that - probably easier to pop in the Town Hall - we're over in October so will know by then whether 2010's bill has been collected or not.

Hi Angie, if you have trouble getting to or parking near the town hall you can do just about anything town-hall-wise in the mini town hall near the 4 star hotels ie Oasis Tropical and if its any further help the staff speak English, best wishes, John.

Hi Cat, as you drive past the Tropical Oasis in the direction of Garrucha it's just a few hundred yards on your left. There is a crescent shaped road and parking too, best wishes, John.

My father-in-law has recently been over to Mojacar and brought our mail back - and lo and behold there was an IBI bill but this is in the name of the person we bought the property from 4 years ago in 2006. We paid the IBI in 2007 and 2008 by DD from our bank account (which I have since printed off) and can't understand why the bill for 2010 has reverted to the original owner some years ago.

There has obviously been a revaluation - the bill we paid in 2008 was 114 EU and is now 327 EU. The Reference Catastral on this latest bill bears no reference at all to our bill we paid in 2007 and 2008 - they are completely different. I am a bit confused considering the bills for 2007 and 2008 have been paid from our bank account and bills sent in our name but have now reverted to the previous owner's name?

Has anyone else had a problem with this? Whatever, the IBI needs to be paid by the 22nd November but I am reluctant to pay a bill in the previous owners names with the wrong VC quoted? Anyone advise?

The first step is to try entering the referencia catastral here:

https://www1.sedecatastro.gob.es/OVCFrames.aspx?TIPO=CONSULTA

and see if it comes up with the address of your property. If not enter the address of the property in one of the options below and see if it comes up with a referencia catastral that corresponds to either of the ones that you have.

If this link doesn't work try here:

https://www1.sedecatastro.gob.es/

and select this option under 'Acceso Libre':

Consulta de cartografía, datos catastrales y búsqueda de referencia catastral

The most recent revision of values in Mojacar was in 2005. Are you sure the bills you paid in 2007 and 2008 relate to your property?

Beachcomber - thank you for those links. I have input both our and the other owners VC references on both bills and after inputting our own VC Ref on the bills that we have paid for 2007 and 2008 it comes up with our address. However on inputting the VC on the previous owners address this seems to relate to an entirely different address and does not reflect the square metres of our property. Could be the previous owner has somewhere else he owns in the Pueblo and this is the bill for that. But now I know it does not correspond to our property I will not pay it and will drop the bill into him when we are next over in mid-October.

Will also pop into the Town Hall to pay both last year and this year's bill on our property but relieved to find that we have not been paying someone else's bill in 2007 and 2008

I assumed a revision had taken place when I looked at the bill in the previous owner's name and the increase in IBI payable from what we had paid last in 2008 but apparently this isn't the case - will wait to see what our final bill will be (with penalties) for 2009 and also payment for 2010
