The Mayor of Albox has resigned with immediate effect, according to La Voz de Almería, citing sources in the town.
The reasons for the resignation of José García Navarro are unclear, but a press conference is expected soon.
Albox townhall is bankrupt, and was unable to pay salaries in December, and has an accumulated debt of over 200,000€ in unpaid bank interest bills, as well as owing a significant amount to the social security office, according to opposition reports.
