Hi, our electricity bills have doubled in the last few months, even though I'm only out for a week every other month. Has there been a big price increase.

They are not allowed to estimate bills any more but still only read meters every two months. That means Endesa has gone over to billing every two months so each bill ought to be ought to be about twice as much.

Of course they can also make a right hash of things. We signed to change back to Endesa and switch over to a dual meter back in June. They still haven't been to change the meter and have only paid €54 covering the period since 12 May!

You can register with Endesa online via PC there is an in English option, they also have an Endesa phone app, both very good.
This is the PC link:-
http://www.endesaonline.com/EN/Hogares/
What I have found on my past couple of bills is that Endesa have increased the standing charge, so I use approx 10 euros electricity when I am out for a week and my two monthly bill comes in at around 60 euros, giving a standing charge of approx 20 euros per month, see details below for my December bill I was out for a week in November.

Reducing the power rating is the way for me to go to reduce my approx 48 euros for a rating of 6.9kw compared to Pottsy's 24 euros for a rating of 3KW.
I just need to work out what rating to go for to avoid the system tripping out.
Anyone know where a good guide can be found to estimate what power rating to go for?

Have tried calling from UK but have had no joy.
I'm out on Saturday, where should I go to sort it out.
Thanks

Our main cooker is bottle gas [ just use the top rings for cooking breakfast ] bottle last for many years [ have just replaced it with a one that cost 10.5 euroes ]

Crikey, that must be knocking on a bit. Mind you, I still have a Rolls Razor (although it doesn't compare to modern wet shavers).

Blimey Personal-CD your an old fossil like me !

Spain sold them when I bought 1988, works great on small things , has NO heater so very little energy used , just a spinning motor and a pump motor to pump out the water, should outlast me , easy to move around as it is very light and being one floor up I thought [ being young brainy at the time] easy to carry on my own to dump if it packs up
