Almerimar is very sleepy in the winter, although July & august are comparativelt busy.
There are a few gift shops scattered around the marina area & 2 supermarkets, el Arbol & Mercadona.
There are lots of restaurants & you always get tapas with any alchoholic drink. there are a few beach bars open in the summer.
Almerimar has a lot of buillding work going on at the western side.
The beaches are fine shingle. There is a Parque Natural on the port side, where locals take their cars onto the beaches, but there are no facilities there. In all I feel the beaches & prom on the portside could do with some improvement, although the other side of the marina they are OK
All car parking is free.
We have a couple of lovely interior design shops (but they are very tiny), 1 bank, 2 golf courses (plus another being built), 3 chinese restaurants, 3 English/Irish bars, garden centre just outside town.
the nearest tourist office is at El Copo on the way to El Ejido, but not within walking distance
The marina is very nice & on Sunday mornings a very small market - about 8 pitches in the summer (because everyone''s at the beach) and about 20 in the winter. Selling mainly second hand stuff, half is yatchy based, half is car boot type stuff.
It is often breezy in Almerimar which is quite refreshing in the hot summer months
