A big thankyou to the previous reviewers. My wife and I picked a weekend break at Las Persianas Azules thanks to the reviews, and we were NOT disappointed in any way.
Ian and Jayne came out and gave us a warm welcome when we arrived. Great rural location about a mile from Velez Rubio. It''s a beautifully restored cortijo type building with a large pool and huge terraces, in 45 acres of mainly fruit trees. Our room was excellent, 6 foot wide bed with a 10 inch thick mattress, wonderfully comfortable. Matched curtains and bedding, great attention to detail. And the place was totally spotless. Breakfast was excellent - fresh fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice, cereals, then toast and croissants with a good choice of teas.
Jayne offered us a lot of useful information on the local area, which was just lovely - several churches and interesting old buildings, and a huge old castle at nearby Velez Blanco. Some good tapas bars and restaurants, but very Spanish. We found a summer bar at the square at Velez Rubio with a wood-fired oven which did excellent tapas. We booked for 2 nights but stayed on for a third. Amazing value for money, and a great place for a quiet and very civilised weekend.

We stayed at Las Persianan for the October half term for four days, while visiting friends in Velez Rubio. Jayne and Ian are lovely people, Our bed was wonderful very comfy, lovely quiet area yet close to bars and restaurants. Ian had the log fire going for us every night, The heated pool was too cold for us but as time goes on it will be covered keeping the heat in better, but i still managed to go in the jacuzzi. Would stay there again they couldnt do enough for us, very good value for money.

We have stayed twice now, once in feb, the local scenery is breathtaking,we also drove the 1 1/2 hrs to granada ski resort (little or no traffic) where we had excellent skiing.Makes a nice change from the Alps.
We have also stayed in august and enjoyed cycling, walking, running and an excellent pool/jacuzzi. We were also allowed to pick the lovely almonds. the local village is good for food/markets and local bars where prices are cheap.
The fresh orange juice for breakfast is not to be missed. For a very reasonable price the landlord Ian cooks a mean BBQ.

Homely, newly modernised cortillo (all mod con) where you can be assiured of a friendly welcome from Jayne and Ian - the owners. Superb location with pictoresque views. Day trips to the coast, lakes, National Parks etc. are easily posible. Ideal location for paragliding, canoeing, walking, bird watching or just walking or relaxing. Large pool and BBQ area.
We will be returning.

we enjoyed a relaxing week here in february, ian and jayne make you feels so very welcome. The rooms have been decorated and furnished in traditional spanish style to a very high standard. An afternoon cycle ride was a great way of exploring the local countryside.
We have already booked to return this september with a group of friends and are looking forward to revisiting traditional spain

We spent three weeks with our family this summer at Las Persianas Azules whilst searching for a property to buy. Jayne and Ian made us very welcome and we can recommend the house to anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable holiday. Spent many hours walking, cycling, mountain trekking and swimming as well as enjoying some good food from the barbecue. Velez Rubio has some good restaurants, shops and places of interest to visit and we can recommend it to anyone looking for real Spain.

We stayed for a week in May with our family and were made very welcome. The house and patio have fantastic views and there is a large swimming pool with hot tub! We were given two adjoining rooms but there is also an apartment with its own cooking facilities and private terrace. We have already booked for next year!
