Rio is the member of a litter of very young puppies that were abandoned in a box near PAWS. Some of the puppies had gotten out of the box and ran away and hid in the riverbed. Frightened and alone, Rio lived amongst the reeds for over a week whilst volunteers left him food and fresh water and patiently waited for him to lose his fear and come to them for rescue. Rio is a little smaller than his identical brother Roy, and a little more shy and fearful due to his ordeal. He is a handsome puppy and is growing in to a nice looking young dog. Rio engages in normal dog=dog play and has been observed to get on well with kennel and playmates. He may remain somewhat reserved but with some patience and time spent on him in a home situation he will make a nice pet
