Within easy reach of Palomares are the towns of Villaricos with its picturesque marinas, Garrucha which offers a large, sandy beach, numerous shops and restaurants and a thriving fishing port.Mojacar Playa is the main tourist resort which is 20 minutes drive away, bustling during the peak season and has an abundance of restaurants, bars, sandy beaches and water sports.San Juan de los Terreros with its long stretch of gently sloping beach and numerous beach bars is also a short drive away of approximately 15 minutes.

Other local tourist attractions within the area include a water park, karting, horse-riding and sports centre with tennis, padel, squash, gymnasium etc.Golf courses include the famous Desert Springs, Valle del Este, Playa Maceanas and Marina de la Torre.The historic towns of Vera, Cuevas del Almanzora and Mojacar Pueblo are almost certainly worth exploring.
