The Doghouse Foundation Charity depends entirely on donations, contributions and a small rehoming fee for those dogs that are lucky enough to be adopted.
Many of the dogs have been abandoned as unwanted or perhaps unwell. The dogs that come into The Doghouse, are treated for whatever illness or injury they have and settled in to their new, hopefully temporary surroundings.
We try to rehome as many as possible and some even go to other countries, especially the U.K.
The Doghouse can help organise the necessary paperwork etc. Some of the dogs turn up with awful injuries, either handed in but sometimes just tied to our gates.... they may be victims of abuse and mistreatment, and they too are given appropriate treatment and medication.
Visitors to the Doghouse are always welcome although it is better to call first so we can give directions and be on hand to introduce the dogs and give some background.
There is a small group of volunteers but we can always use more. If anyone can give just a couple of hours, once a week, it can make a difference. It's fun as well as helping.
